Welcome! Arizona Neurology is the home site for the two divisions, Arizona Dystonia Institute and the Institute for Developmental Behavioral Neurology

Although capable of offering an opinion with respect to any potential neurologic symptom or disorder, these two institutes focus on individual groups of symptoms and disorders for which we are uniquely capable of assessing and treating.

Our comprehension quantitative neurological examination, family history data and cognitive measures, as well as neurophysiologic studies, provide an in depth assessment pre and post treatment for developmental disorders that affect learning, alertness, memory and a variety of cognitive functions.  In disorders such as Dyslexia, AD(H)D, Tourette Syndrome, Asperger and Autism, we have special experience and expertise.  We have the largest database of Tourette Syndrome patients in Arizona and receive patients on recommendation of the Tourette Syndrome Association.  Our assessment, when alertness is an issue, involves rating scales and physiologic measures of alertness that include pupillometry.  In the movement disorder domain, we have unique experience with all the forms of botulinum toxin and have been involved in the research of Myobloc, a form of botulinum toxin B, and the Dysport form of botulinum toxin A, but have been in collaboration with research involving Botox brand name botulinum toxin A.  Cervical dystonia, Meige Syndrome, oromandibular dystonia, blepharospasm, writer’s cramp, musician’s dystonia, axial dystonia with scoliosis, and limb dystonia are in our level of expertise, with the largest experience in the world with cervical dystonia by our founding Arizona Dystonia Institute director.  These Institutes actively train pre-medical, medical and resident students in Neurology and Psychiatry.  Arizona Dystonia Institute was the first to employ botulinum toxin for dystonia in the state of Arizona.  We have hosted colleagues from abroad to observe our multi-faceted in depth assessment, which has proven over the years to minimize the risk of diagnostic error.
